Module 2: Fundamental Rights at Work
Overview
The requirements in Module 2 form the basis for ensuring the wellbeing of small producers and workers, and managing human rights risks faced by companies and buyers in their supply chains. The requirements are based on principles and rights outlined in some core Conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Although many of the fundamental rights highlighted are separately addressed through national and local regulations, their inclusion in this Module helps create consistency across many different geographies as well as reduce risk through additional verification.
APS requirements may be stricter, less strict, or equivalent to applicable laws. Where laws and the APS requirements overlap, the one that offers the strongest protections for farmers, workers, and communities prevails This video does not replace the complete reading of this standard.
